Do you work with kids?
Yes! Casey works with children ages 8 and up and is available for either one-on-one or small group instruction. Lessons can be conducted in your home or on location (parks, museums, etc) at the parents’ discretion. Casey has years of experience teaching youth classes ranging from public middle school painting/drawing/ceramics, to The Educational Alliance on the LES, to pre-college courses for teens at Pratt Institute. References are available upon request. Don’t hesitate to reach out!
Are you available for parties or corporate events?
Yes! Please feel free to reach out with the specifics for your event or to discuss ideas directly with Casey. Availability and pricing varies depending on location, number of participants, duration of event, etc.
Do you offer outdoor “plein-air” painting lessons?
Yes, absolutely! As an artist who specializes in landscape painting, Casey works with students on location in NYC’s parks and gardens, as well as outside of the city and in the Hudson Valley region. Please reach out to us for more information.
I am a complete beginner. Do I need to have prior experience to take classes?
Nope! Whether you took a class that one time in college or you’ve never drawn or painted a day in your life, you are welcome and encouraged to take classes. Casey will meet you where you’re at and help you to learn the basics through approachable step-by-step lessons and demonstrations catered to your interests and ability level.
Are supplies included in the cost of classes?
Yes, for the most part. Group classes are BYOC (bring your own canvas) for individual projects, but all other materials are provided. This includes oil paints, brushes, painting mediums, palettes, easels, brush cleaning supplies and everything else you’ll need. Students taking private lessons at Casey’s studio have access to all of his materials, and a detailed materials list can be provided for those who wish to get their own materials to work with at home. Casey can also bring materials for students taking private lessons in their own home/studio.
How do you accept payment for classes?
We accept payment in cash or digitally through Venmo/Zelle.
Can private lessons be split between two people?
Yes, private sessions can be shared by up to 3 people for the same rate of $200 (at Casey’s studio) or $250 (at your own home/studio). Additional materials fees may apply. These rates are for a 2 hour session. Sessions can be extended at the rate of $100 per hour.
